Meeting MARTHA STEWART!

So,  within' days of exiting KUBE the most AMAZING thing happened. I (and my dear friend Angela Jayo)...met Martha Stewart.  Funny how things happen, and as they say 'for a reason'.  It was the day before my Thanksgiving vacation that it came to be that I'd not be returning to the radio station I called home for nearly 21 years. The long planned vacation to NY (followed by Boston) was in play.  I received news the day before that vaca that my time had come to an end on KUBE, 3 days later I was talking to Martha at her Gala in NY.  Long story short, my friend Angie and I bid on an opportunity at her gala-auction to have lunch with her at her NY-Bedford Farm for up to 4 people.  We thought...'what the hec'.  We have ideas we'd love to share with her...and now suddenly I had time on my hands:)  We won the auction bid. Soooooo, long story short.  Sometime in the Spring of 2012, we'll be having lunch with her.  What, what?!?!?  I know!  Very cool.  So during this holiday season, as I enjoy some long-overdue time off have been working on 'ideas' that we can share with Martha at our lunch we'll share with her.  Hey, you just never know:)  Right?!?!?  btw, she looks AMAZING in person.  She was VERY cool and easy goin' with us. In fact...she wanted to know if 'we'd go horseback riding with her' when we visit. Um, yes?

Missing BUBBAS

Last year at this time, I knew I was approaching the final year of my Golden. Though had yet to be diagnosed with anything, I just knew time was short.  She was diagnosed with bone cancer in July and had to put her down within' 40 days of that.  Even though all thought she'd have at least a year.  It was swift, when the day approached.  "Bubbas" was almost 13.  Always acted like a puppy.  If not for that damn cancer in her leg.  Was aggressive. She was surrounded by her kids (nieces and nephews she raised) when it came time for that last nap.  Miss her tons, as the holiday approaches.  I think of her often. She just some how knew this time of year for family gatherings, where she could see all her kids (nieces and nephews) as she raised them all. Her and that big pink nose.  Job well done my sweet girl.  Missing you 'Bubbas'...

My HOLIDAY PLAY DATE!

Spent the day Friday with my good friends Jodee, Demaree & Titan.  (Eric Powers wife and kids).  We had an ABSOLUTE blast!!!  (as you will see). What's one of your favorite Holiday traditions?  That one thing you look forward to every year?

OK...Who Did It?!?!?!?

Soooooo....my Sheltie named DAISY was at her cousin's house today for a doggy playdate.  She too a Sheltie named TRINNY.  It's been an ongoing challenge the past few months where as soon as they we're left alone, one of them would pull open the treat drawer and devour a COSTCO size bag of chicken treats.  At first we we're slightly entertained by it, trying to imagine which of the two had the smarts to pull open the drawer, which is kinda heavy.

Then after a handful of times, and me trying to trim Daisy's weight down...not so funny.
(PLUS it would also mean several outings in the middle of the night, if you catch my drift:).

So, we decided to put a kid drawer-catch/lock on it.

That worked the first coupla times, as it would catch the drawer above it and they would not be able to reach the treats. Well, note what I just discovered when I went to pick Daisy up.  Really?!?!  How did they figure that out?!?!?  And which one is doing it?

Hmmmmmm.  Now what?  Please advise friends:)

Welcome to my BLOG!!!

Something else to occupy my time during this transition between jobs!  LOL.
So to start, HUGE thanks to all those who have reached out since my departure on KUBE.
I'm doing great, and using the down-time to get caught up with family, friends, my home and 'me'.

Stumbled upon this old photo this morning, and two things came to mind.  One, dig the shirt.  Two, it was about this time that I received my first pocket-sized transistor radio.
I can remember listening and bouncing back and forth between the two big stations KJR and KING (and they were AM stations of course, it being the 70's:).  I'd go to sleep at night with that thing at my ear, listening and memorizing countdowns.  I can't imagine the number of batteries I must have went through.  Song that comes to mind?  Hmmmmmm, gonna have say it'  "Billy Don't Be A Hero".  SUPER 70's OLDSKOOL!!!

Do you remember your first radio song?  Would love to know what that is:).

Shellie Hart 1974...nice!
